Moulds are created from the impression of the part to be produced prior to their use, to accommodate the alloys in liquid form. As the melting point of light alloys is relatively low, molds can be used permanently. The lightness of the parts, but also their degree of thermal and electrical conductivity, their resistance to rust, their mechanical strength... and more generally their mechanical-physical-chemical characteristics depend not only on the uses for which they are designed, but also on other factors such as the nature of the different components of the aluminum alloy, the micrographic structure, the nominal composition, the balance between the various solid phases...

Aluminum die-casting and injection molding
AB Fonderie uses 2 moulding techniques to produce your parts:
- gravity die-casting (filling a metal mold to produce small parts weighing from 50 g to 10 kg, for production runs of 100 to 1,000 parts).
- Aluminium pressure die-casting (similar to plastic injection molding, for precision parts ranging from 20 g to 1 kg, for production runs of over 5,000 parts).
We also use another technique to manufacture your high-precision mechanical parts. This is EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) machining of aluminum. This process enables us to manufacture your prototypes and/or parts in small and medium production runs.
